Why Mobstackr? The Story Behind Our Company Name
Ever wondered why our company is called Mobstackr? The answer involves kangaroos, full-stack development, and collaborative problem-solving.
“What does your company name mean?”
We get asked this all the time. And honestly, it’s one of our favorite questions to answer.
The Kangaroo Connection
Here’s a fun fact: a group of kangaroos is called a “mob.”
Not a herd. Not a pack. A mob.
When we were brainstorming company names in late 2024, we kept coming back to this idea of collaborative problem-solving. In software development, the best solutions come from diverse perspectives working together—designers, frontend devs, backend devs, security experts, all bouncing ideas off each other (pun intended).
Kangaroos work the same way. They’re social animals that thrive in groups. They watch out for each other. They move together. They’re surprisingly strong (have you seen a kangaroo?), but they’re even stronger as a mob.
That resonated with us.
The “Stackr” Part
The second half of our name comes from “full-stack” development.
At Mobstackr, we don’t specialize narrowly. We handle the full stack: frontend, backend, databases, APIs, infrastructure, security, UI/UX—all of it. We’re not just “the WordPress people” or “the security monitoring people.” We’re the people who solve complete problems.
“Stack” became “stackr” because we’re builders. We stack technologies, solutions, and innovations to create tools that actually work.
Plus, Mobstacker.com was taken. (True story.)
Why It Matters
Our name isn’t just clever wordplay—it defines how we operate:

What People Think Our Name Means
Before we explain it, people usually guess:
- “Mobile Stacker?” (No, but we are mobile-friendly!)
- “Mob like mafia?” (Only if you consider good software a crime)
- “Stack like pancakes?” (Now we’re hungry)
Our favorite wrong guess: “It’s an acronym, right?” It is not.
The Bigger Picture
We chose “Mobstackr” because it represents how we want to work with our customers: collaboratively, comprehensively, and practically.
